Woyww and painted backgrounds

Hi everyone, I've been away from blog land and not participated in WOYWW for ages - combination of poorly knee & not much crafting being done! But thought I'd share my desk today.....

I've been playing with my Cosmic Shimmer watercolours (same as twinkling H2o's) to create shimmery backgrounds for stamping. And here's a close up of one in progress...
The background is painted in random vertical stripes with cheap emulsion (I used leftover tester pot) then when dry, over painted with 2-3 colours of the cosmic shimmer. Sheena Douglass demo'd this ages ago in C&C & I tried it once then forgot about it. Now I'm liking the effect v much!

Between keeping my craft room pristine for potential buyers viewing the house, and working on Christmas DT pieces I can't share yet, I haven't had any time for 'me' crafting lol!

Off to visit other blogs in the weekly Hol around the craft desks of re world with Julia

Thanks for stoping by

Debs x

  5. Hey there! Nice to see you back..that blooming knee, it's taking its time getting better, isn't it? :-(. Have you had any joy with the house viewings? It's such a hard thing to do, living in your house but keeping it tidy for viewers....
I like your shimmery flower btw, that's a clever technique!

  7. Hi Debs, good to see you posting - and what a gorgeous creation too, love all the shimmer.

Good luck with the house sale - it will be worth the tidiness in the end. Failing that, chuck a sheet over the mess :)

    Happy WOYWW, hugs, Di xx

  14. Hi Debs
welcome back the background is lovely I wander what you are going to do with them.
Must be a nightmare trying to keep a craft room tidy ... non crafters just don't understand, I cant even explain to my handyman. How's the knee doing ... do you still fancy that coffee sometime?

  15. What a fabulous picture, Debs, and what a gorgeous effect - very impressionistic! Sorry to hear about your knee and hope it is on the mend now. Hope all goes well with your house sale - as you know we are on the point of moving. Fortunately all the purchase part is in the past and everything now involves the practical stuff with the builders in, and then our move in mid-Sept. I hope you find a buyer soon, and at a price you approve of - things do seem to be looking up a bit in the property market now, so hopefully things won't take too long for you.

Thanks for your lovely comment - it's certainly great to be feeling better! As for the tidiness of my room... well, give me half a chance and I'll soon have it up to the messy standard required by WOYWW lol!!

    Happy WOYWW,

  16. WOW. Those do look lovely. Such shimmer! With all you have on the go (and health issues too) I am surprised you can find the time...but then, we crafty type will play rather than sleep ... :)

Happy (better late than never) WOYWW!

  18. That looks lovely, I use match pots in my journal, just not sure how long they keep. Beautiful effect you have made there. Feel for you, after moving house about 15 years ago and that 'having to keep everywhere spotless' thing, I said I would never move again without a lottery win.
